Pärnu Sütevaka Private High School of Humanities (PSHG) was founded in 1990.
The main owner of the school is an organisation called Supporters Society of Sütevaka High School made up mostly of parents.
One of the aims of PSHG is to prepare students to enter a higer school. More than eighty percent of the graduates achieve this goal.
PSHG follows the national curriculum. To enhance the students education, there are optional classes in Estonian, Russian, German, English, French, Latin, history, philosophy, mathematics.
The students are admitted to the fifth and tenth grades. The tenth grade classes have a choice of majoring in the humanities or social science. The students of the humanities learn music and art history, literature, psychology, the history of philosophy and religion more profoundly. The students of the social science class learn ethics, social psychology, media, political science, sociology.
The entrance exams take place at the beginning of spring break.
PSHG has co-operation with eight different schools in European countries. The longest relationship is Märkische Schule in Germany. About twenty to thirty students take part in the students exchange program every year.
